Distance Covered:

It is not often that the Kempsey hams are flooded and that there is a descent south westerly blowing at the same time, but when this does happen this has got to be one of the best spots to sail in the west midlands. The area flooded has got to be around 30 acres, and in a south westerly you can sail about a quarter of a mile to the other bank which also acts as a barrier to the river Severn which you cannot accidently sail into unless there is a seriously high flood!
In a south westerly there is a venturie affect down the severn falley which really accelerates the wind.
Today I arrived with my mate Dave at about ten where we were lectured by a twitcher about disturbing the wildlife, and he tried to put us off by saying it looked a bit rough out there????!!! He also said that we did not have any life guards with us and that we shouldnt sail!!!
After we stopped laughing we rigged our 7.5s and had a brilliant time just tearing around in pretty constant 4-5 wind. After lunch we had to change down to 5.5 and sailed until it went dark., whilst being watched by some bermused dog walkers. All in all a great day.
